Salvatore Consalvi followed a career in environmental geology to eight seasons in Antarctica where landscape and culture compelled him into filmmaking. Convinced that his access to deep field camps and the remote-and-isolated experience were stories that few modern humans could imagine, he captured four deep field seasonsā€” documenting small crews isolated 4 months, 800-miles from McMurdo Station.

Sal recognized the ability to capture unique subjects under difficult conditions and asked him to crew on that first interview with Sidney in 2009. He immediately saw the value in documenting the story of a complicated medicine man, his often-brutal ceremonies, the Pine Ridge community, and the indigenous world-view. The entire story is currently captured and waiting for post-production. You can contact Sal at: salvatore2go@yahoo.com
